Job Description

Position Summary:

CNFA is preparing for an opportunity in Mali and seeks an Integrated Curriculum Development and Training Specialist (Technical Lead) to lead technical design related to development of an accelerated foundational skills curriculum and delivery method for out-of-school youth. The curriculum will focus on workforce readiness, basic literacy and numeracy, critical thinking, and soft skills. The Technical Lead will also design a training program for skilled youth to deliver the foundational skills curriculum using modern teaching methods and to provide coaching and mentoring. Finally, the Technical Lead will design an intensive training program to enable staff to provide supportive supervision to the teachers. The Technical Lead will support capture work to gather information and provide written inputs during proposal co-design. The Technical Lead will complete tasks in compliance with CNFA program development processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as technical lead for curriculum development and training aspects of the project, collaborating with cross-functional teams, partners, and stakeholders to achieve project goals and outcomes.
  • Capture: Support ongoing capture by gathering information, conducting research, and staying updated on trends and best practices related to youth education, curriculum development, and training methodologies.
  • Proposal Co-design: Support co-design of the proposal by providing technical inputs, insights, and expertise into the formulation of strategies and approaches.
  • Curriculum Development: Lead technical design and adaptation of an accelerated foundational skills curriculum for out-of-school youth, ensuring alignment with workforce readiness, basic literacy, critical thinking, soft skills, media literacy, and sexual and reproductive health education.
  • Delivery Methodology: Develop a comprehensive delivery method, incorporating modern teaching methods and approaches to engage and educate out-of-school youth.
  • Training Program Design: Design a training program for skilled youth to become proficient in delivering the foundational skills curriculum, incorporating coaching and mentoring techniques.
  • Supportive Supervision: Design an intensive training program to staff with the skills and knowledge required to provide supportive supervision to the youth teachers.
  • Compliance: Ensure that tasks and deliverables are completed in compliance with CNFA program development processes, adhering to established guidelines, standards, and timelines.
  • Other Duties: As assigned.

Job Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education with specialization in integrated curriculum design.
  • Five or more years of experience designing integrated curriculums in a developing country setting.
  • Understanding of and ability to apply the PYD development and UDL educational frameworks and approaches to curriculum design.
  • Experience collaborating with civil society and local communities, and especially youth (including adolescent girls and people with disabilities) in designing curriculums and programs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to youth, gender, and workforce training; knowledge of SRH issues highly desired; knowledge of media literacy issues desired.
  • Understanding of Malian government educational priorities, policies, and planning processes.
  • Knowledge of French required.
  • Experience working or living in Mali highly desired.
